Reflective Clothing: Safety in style

Hanna Schmitz

There's no doubt that when you're on a bike and involved in a crash in traffic, you'll ALWAYS come off worse. Last year, a family member experienced firsthand what it's like to be overlooked in a roundabout. Luckily, it was "only" a broken hip, and thanks to a helmet, there were no permanent injuries. But the fear remains with every ride through a roundabout – for all of us, because it could have ended differently.

Make yourself visible – not just on your bike

There are things you can do to draw attention to yourself. For example, with reflective clothing, accessories, and reflective elements on your bike (…and yes, there are some really cool ones), it's a first step towards better visibility and safety. Wearing a bike helmet and considerate riding are, of course, also part of the latter.

We've put together a few favorites from our shop for you. All other products from our "Reflection" collection (it even rhymes!) can be found here.

1) Reflective Stickers from Bookman. They stick firmly to your bike and/or helmet but can also be removed without leaving any residue. (Available in various colors and designs).

2) Reflective Bag by Notabag: The German Design Award winner transforms from a backpack to a tote bag in no time. Reflective straps and all the features of the classic Notabag.

Not only darkness but also rain reduces visibility. It's ideal if your rainwear also has reflective elements incorporated into it. For example, our Rain Skirt has a reflective seam on the side.
